Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy
Receiving a diagnosis of ADHD or Autism in adulthood can bring up a range of emotions. While you may feel a sense of relief or that things finally make sense, you also may feel confused about how to navigate the world with this new information. Many undiagnosed or late-diagnosed adults have internalized negative messages about themselves from the world around them, leading to chronic depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and a sense of shame or worthlessness. As a neurodiversity-affirming therapist, I do not see these as conditions to be treated or cured, but as part of the normal spectrum of human diversity. Using cognitive behavioral therapy and EMDR as needed, we will work together to unlearn negative messages and find a better way for you to navigate the world.
